Lunch Chat

I'm wondering if Bush said the following to Chinese President Hu when the two had lunch at the White House today:

We will encourage reform in other governments by making clear that success in our relations will require the decent treatment of their own people. America's belief in human dignity will guide our policies. Yet rights must be more than the grudging concessions of dictators; they are secured by free dissent and the participation of the governed.

All who live in tyranny and hopelessness can know: The United States will not ignore [their] oppression, or excuse [their] oppressors. When [they] stand for your liberty, we will stand with you.

Democratic reformers facing repression, prison, or exile can know: America sees you for who you are, the future leaders of your free country.

The rulers of outlaw regimes can know that we still believe as Abraham Lincoln did: "Those who deny freedom to others deserve it not for themselves, and, under the rule of a just God, cannot long retain it."

The leaders of governments with long habits of control need to know: To serve your people you must learn to trust them. Start on this journey of progress and justice, and America will walk at your side.

Those are all excerpts from Bush's 2005 inaugural address. But it might be hard to talk that way to your banker....And I wonder if Bill Gates said anything like this to Hu when the two dined in Seattle earlier in the week. Or was it all business?

David:

You needn't wonder, the Lunch Chat went nothing like the 2005 inaugural address. That address was at a time of much optimism after a tough reelection campaign. Not so today!

I sure hope they discussed Iran at some length. While China covets its oil, I'd think China realizes that Radical Islam, on a global scale, led by a nuclear-armed Iran, is not in its own best interests. China's 5,000-years old civilization has ethinic Muslims among its midst and geographically, share lots of borders w/Muslim xxxxxstan countries on its west and northwest. Oh, there are also as many Muslims in the world as there are Chinese.

Everything in Nazi America evolves around the bottom line. Nazi Americans are third. Ahead of Nazi Americans are money and possessions.

Imagine Bush and Cheney speaking about the status of negotiations with the Chinese.

Cheney: Look Bush, if you're the president, you must know all the Chinese-players.
Bush: I certainly do.
Cheney: Well you know I've never met the guys. So you'll have to tell me their names, and then I'll know who's playing on the team.
Bush: Oh, I'll tell you their names, but you know it seems to me they give these players now-a-days very peculiar names.
Cheney: You mean funny names?
Bush: Strange names, pet names...
Bush: Well, let's see, we have on the intel, Hu's on first.
Cheney: That's what I want to find out.
Bush: I say Hu's on first.
Cheney: Are you the president?
Bush: Yes.
Cheney: You gonna be the manager too?
Bush: Yes.
Cheney: And you don't know the fellows' names?
Bush: Well I should.
Cheney: Well then who's on first?
Bush: Yes.
Costello: I mean the fellow's name.
Bush: Hu.
Cheney: The guy on first.
Bush: Hu.
Cheney: The first guy.
Bush: Hu.
Cheney: The guy playing...
Bush: Hu is first!
Cheney: I'm asking YOU who's first.
Bush: That's the man's name.
Cheney: That's who's name?
Bush: Yes.
Cheney: Well go ahead and tell me.
Bush: That's it.
Cheney: That's who?
Bush: Yes.
PAUSE
Cheney: Who gets the money...
Bush: He does, every dollar. Sometimes his wife comes down and collects it.
Cheney: Whose wife?
Bush: Yes. What's wrong with that?
Cheney: Look, all I wanna know is when you sign, how does he sign his name?
Bush: Hu..
Cheney: The guy.
Bush: Who.
Cheney: How does he sign...
Bush: That's how he signs it.
Cheney: Who?
Bush: Yes.

History truly does repeat itself.

An official commenting about the crash scene (flight 93):

"This is the most eerie thing. I have not, to this day, seen a single drop of blood. Not a drop."

"I stopped being coroner after about 20 minutes, because there were no bodies there. There was just nothing visible. It was the strangest feeling."

"[The crater looked] like someone took a scrap truck, dug a 10-foot ditch and dumped all this trash into it."

I'd think China realizes that Radical Islam, on a global scale, led by a nuclear-armed Iran, is not in its own best interests.

Yeah, that's why China, along with Russia, have promised to veto any sanctions against Iran. If they're against sanctions, do you think that they would be happy with American bombing of Iran?

The Chinese won't support the bombing and/or invasion of Iran.

DOn, Maybe Bush was hoping that Hopsing would be hard of hearing and join his coalition. Every world leader that joined him on Iraq has been thrown out of power. Blair is next - before the end of the year, staged bus bombings aside, he's done for. Burlesqueone (sic) still won't acknowledge defeat in Italy.

James, and the whole country will cry when the watch the movie and see how the heroes crash the plane.

The last time I saw anything this fake was when we landed on the moon. If we could do it with 1968 technology, how come we haven't been back for the Stanley Kubrick version?

Mr. David Corn,

When the corporations are the power the only meaningful discussion is trade.

Bush or Bill - it is all about how much and how fast. If a few million peons have to die in the process it is just a statistic, one that is never reflected on a profit and loss report or balance sheet.

*sigh*

Thanks

Kirk

As Bushitler was having a lunch chat with Hu, my family and I had a dinner chat. They said that they are leaving me. This came as a big shock to me. What am I to do?

My family will be voting for the repugnants in 2006! They said that the repugs got us in this mess so let us see how they get us out of this mess.

We are told by the MSM to be in such AWE of China.

Big Build up for the Olympics.

Concentrated growth around the cities. GNP booming.

Still 75% peasants living in the 12th century.

Major human rights violations.

Pushing military spending to control growth.

Excuse for oil companies to gouge us.

BUT...as soon as they face normal trade restrictions and properly value their currency they may find themselves in same boat as the Japanese for the past 15 years. After all, what more do we need? How much more junk can we buy now that our jobs are gone?

Gerald, do you mean literally leaving you, or politically writing you off? Every time I see a Honda Civic with a W04 sticker I wonder what the guy expected for his vote. Catholics are the most split group over Bush. They love him as a conservative or they hate him for what he is. God Bless you and look after you and your family.

So, bush really said that? Then why are things here starting to follow this familiar pattern?

And while Bush was trying to look Presidential today introducing Hu to the press in the White House Garden, what do you supposed happened? A Chinese woman with press credentials started crying out, painfully protesting the Chinese Government's despicable treatment of that religious group Feng something. It was incredible. She was allowed to continue for two minutes at least until Bush had to yank at Hu to pretend not to notice her. It is classic video. You'll see it on the nightly news.

Here's something that rocks from Molly Ivins.

Enron trial

The only thing is, Bush will pardon Skilling and Lay just as he'll pardon Libby, Rove, Delay etc. Why do you suppose Delay had that cheesy smile in his mugshot? He knows he ain't going to jail.

Holy moly! I hope bush didn't ask President Hu to pray for him! This Praying Team runs the risk of some major failures, IMO. (I did not make this up.)

The Presidential Prayer Team @ presidentialprayerteam.org is praying up a storm -- including praying for a successful exchange with President Hu:

"...Pray for the President as he works with leaders of many nations to prevent nuclear proliferation in the world, particularly as he urges Chinese President Hu Jintao to work to draw North Korea back to the six-party talks and to exert influence on Iran to cease their uranium enrichment program. Pray that leaders of the world will work toward peace for all nations. Pray for success in the PresidentÕs efforts to negotiate on this great concern...."

"Pray for the President as he continues to talkÊabout American competitiveness on the world stage.

Pray for President Bush as he continues to work with his new Chief of Staff, Josh Bolten, praying for wisdom as they consider ÒfresheningÓ the team that advises him and leads the key departments of our government.

Pray for President Bush as he welcomes President Ilham Aliyev of Azerbaijan to the White House on April 28 to discuss a range of issues including promoting democracy and cooperation in the Caucasus, energy diversification, and our common commitment to working together to advance freedom and security.

Pray for the 25 cabinet members who are fanning out across the country this week to encourage senior citizens to sign up for Medicare prescription drug benefits before the May 15 enrollment deadline.

Oy!
